of All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi Successfully completed 2nd National Seminar SAUSHRUTAM Shariya Sangoshti An event will be held to celebrate Sushruta Jayanti on July 15, 2024. The three-day event starting from July 13 honoured Sushruta, the father of surgery, with a series of live demonstrations of surgical procedures and expert discussions.
Inauguration and dignitaries
The seminar Prof. Sandeep Kumar, Founder and Director, AIIMS Bhopal, appeared as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Prof. Padamshri Manoranjan Sahu, Founding Director, AIIA Delhi, Prof. Anurag Srivastav, Former Head, Department of Surgery, AIIMS, New Delhi and Dr. MC Misra, Former Director, AIIMS. Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari, Director, AIIA and Prof. Dr. Yogesh Badwe, Head, Sharia Tantra, welcomed the attendees and provided an overview of the seminar.
Live Surgery Demonstration
A major highlight was the live demonstration of 25 complex surgical procedures, giving participants a unique opportunity to observe and learn from renowned surgeons. The procedures used both modern techniques such as VAAFT, laparoscopy, lasers, and the traditional Shayla technique to address conditions such as anal fistula, hemorrhoids, and gallstones. Approximately 1,500 patients have benefited from AIIA’s surgical procedures in the past year.
Publication of educational materials
On the first day, Professor Tanuja Nesari Released mementos and IEC materials pertaining to the department along with the honourable dignitaries, she highlighted AIIA’s efforts in integrating Ayurveda with advanced surgical techniques to support Ayurvedic surgeons.
Sushruta Pujan and Competitions
The third day began with a Sushruta Pujan ceremony followed by a Paper Presentation Competition. The seminar concluded with a farewell ceremony where prizes were awarded to the best presenters.
Participants and Experts
This event includes 160 participants, Scholars, Residents, Surgeons, Faculty etc from across India. Also present were experts from prestigious institutions like Prof. Dr. Laxman Singh, School of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi and Dr. Bijender Shah, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Prof. Dr. Yogesh Badwe lauded the dedication of Team Saushrutam who worked tirelessly to make the event a success.
