Silavo has developed Commusys (INCI: not provided), a natural anti-aging active ingredient rich in yeast-derived biopeptides. Pichia stipitisIt acts on communication between compartments within the skin.
By regulating the molecules involved in dermis-epidermal communication, this ingredient reactivates the biological functions of the epidermis, resulting in moisturizing, smoothing and radiance-enhancing effects.

Shiravo’s research on transcompartment communication between the dermis and epidermis during aging led to in vitro modeling studies that mapped mediators involved in dermal-epidermal communication, revealing a key role for the proteome, miRNA expression in extracellular vesicles (including exosomes), and the IGF-1/IGF-1R pathway. Shiravo demonstrated that with aging, these mediators become dysregulated, leading to poor communication and impaired biological function of the epidermis.
Based on this observation, the company developed Commysys, an active ingredient that modulates the activity of molecules involved in dermis-epidermis transmission and reactivates epidermal function.According to the company, secretions of senescent fibroblasts treated with 0.4% Commysys actually increase keratinocyte processes such as cell proliferation and aggregation, keratinocyte differentiation, and keratinocyte hydration and fixation at the dermis-epidermis junction.
These results are reflected in a positive effect on epidermal regeneration and thickness, assessed in vivo using optical biopsies in an adult Caucasian panel. According to the company, the skin of Caucasian and Asian volunteers becomes more hydrated, smoother and more radiant after using 1.7% Commusys twice daily.
