She is a TV actress and a mother of two. Devina Bonnerjeespoke about her recently Weight loss Devina lost 10 kgs after giving birth. After giving birth to her second child, she realised she needed to prioritise her health and wellbeing. “After giving birth via C-section, my body faced a major setback and doctors usually recommend no exercise for three months. During those three months, I mainly focused on recovery. It’s important not to be sedentary so I kept moving. I remember taking part in an event just three days after giving birth,” she said.

“Looking back at the photos, I can see how bloated I was and how much water I had retained. This realization motivated me to stay active and pursue career opportunities. I believe that being passionate about work gives you momentum and sitting idle at home means missing out,” she further shared in the interaction. Having shed 75kg to 65kg, Devina is keeping herself healthy with a combination of aerial yoga, pilates and mindful eating. Here’s how:

“Aerial yoga is not just for physical fitness but also for mental relaxation,” explains Devina. “I started doing aerial yoga because I saw so many videos of celebrities doing it and losing weight, so I thought I’d give it a try. Initially, it was definitely tough as it requires a lot of core work,” she further explains.

In addition to her aerial yoga practice, Devina started taking up Pilates to improve her core strength and stability. Pilates focuses on controlled movements that target the deep abdominal, lower back and hip muscles. “Pilates is a bodyweight strength-training exercise, and all exercises are performed lying down, which helps prevent injuries. You can work your legs, abs and arms without having to jump or put weight on your shoulders. After three to four months of consistent Pilates practice, I’ve noticed a significant increase in my core tone and overall strength,” says Devina.

She also spoke about the importance of a balanced workout routine, which combines weight training with cardio. “It’s recommended to focus 70% on weight training and 30% on cardio. I’ve started incorporating weight training three days a week into my routine. For cardio, I’ve taken up tennis. Strength training is important, so even if you can’t get to the gym, make sure you include some sort of strength training in your routine,” she said.

In addition to being physically active, Devina also embraces mindful eating to nourish her body, focusing on a nutritious, balanced diet, avoiding processed foods, and staying hydrated. “It’s not about strict dieting, it’s about making healthier choices,” says Devina. She includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains in her diet, ensuring she’s getting the nutrients she needs to support an active lifestyle.

Devina’s transformation didn’t happen overnight, and she stresses the importance of consistency and perseverance in the process. “There were days when I didn’t feel motivated, but I reminded myself of my goal,” she says. Setting realistic expectations and celebrating small victories helped her stay motivated throughout the process. Having a strong support system also played a key role in Devina’s weight loss journey; her family, especially her husband Gurmeet Choudhuryhas supported her every step of the way. “Having someone to encourage you and share your progress makes a big difference,” says Devina.
