Among those who sent greetings from Vilnius were Franciscan priest Julius Sasnauskas, artist Ray Bartoks, musician Saulius Urbonavičius-Samas, diplomat Algirdas Kumja, philosopher and writer Mantas Admenas, Members of the European Parliament Dainius Żalimas and Petras Auštrevicius, Member of the Lithuanian Parliament (SEMA) Jurgita Sedjoniene, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for Tibet Andrius Navikas and many other supporters of Tibet.
“The 14th Dalai Lama remains the most visible beacon of common values and moral principles for humanity amid today’s turmoil and conflict. Despite his advanced age and the devastation suffered by Tibetans under Chinese occupation, he inspires countless people to take meaningful action, choose freedom and find hope in all sorts of situations, including the most difficult ones,” said social activist Jurga Jakevichyute.
Seimas member Andrius Navikas noted that today the Dalai Lama needs a special person to be a symbol of hope and expressed his gratitude for his care for Lithuania and his efforts for the welfare of the world.
“We’ve been through those struggles, so we know what it means to gain freedom. We empathize with people who are still fighting for freedom, identity and to be themselves,” said Saulius Urbonavičius Sam, producer and founder of the band BIX.
Philosopher, author and former politician Mantas Admenas agreed, saying, “We know you believe in freedom. You believed in freedom for Lithuania before the whole world did, you believed it was possible. Your faith inspired us to believe in freedom for Tibet. And as I wish you good health, everlasting strength and peace of mind, let me express our shared belief that Tibet and Tibetans will be free, independent and able to pursue their spiritual call for humanity.”
Meanwhile, renowned multidisciplinary creator Ray Bertkus celebrates his birthday on the same day as the Dalai Lama and has pledged to toast him to good health.
