President Linda Thompson was recently awarded the Inclusive Leadership Award in the Health and Wellness category by GlobalMindED, a nonprofit organization based in Denver, Colorado.
GlobalMindED’s mission is to close the equity gap by providing students from the least resourced backgrounds with programs, content, and courses that make them job-worthy, advancement-ready, and financially able to navigate a hierarchical world, building a pipeline of talented, diverse talent through role models, mentors, internships, experiences, and job connections. GlobalMindED serves low-income students, returning adults seeking badges and credentials, and students going to college for the first time.
In accepting the award, Mr. Thompson stressed the importance of implementing a humanistic approach in educating and inspiring students. He also spoke about the importance of educating students to be critical thinkers and shaping their critical thinking mindset to contribute to the betterment of the community. Mr. Thompson also emphasized the importance of creating a diverse and inclusive environment where all members of the community can thrive.
“The process of identifying and correcting disparities in our health care system cannot be done in silos. Eliminating disparities requires governments, health care providers, business and academia to come together and form foundational alliances. I am proud to have dedicated a significant portion of my career to building these partnerships.” “I hope my efforts will bring even greater good to our community, and I thank GlobalMindED for partnering with me to advance our common goal,” she said.
President Thompson received the award at the Inclusive Leadership Awards Ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency in Denver on June 17.
