Made on a budget of just $1.5 million, the film grossed over $60 million and sent a clear message to Hollywood that Christian audiences hungry for uplifting, positive messages are being underserved.
Ten years later, producers are gearing up for the fifth film in the series.
“God Is Not Dead: In God We Believe,” which opens in theaters nationwide on Sept. 12, “explores the intersection of faith, politics and our civic duty.”
Coming at a time of cultural turmoil — when people fear cancellation and other social ills — “God Is Not Dead: In God We Believe” addresses the importance of standing up for your beliefs and taking action to make a positive impact.
“Set during a time of political and spiritual upheaval, God Is Not Dead: In God We Trust follows the Rev. David Hill as he runs for Congress following the sudden death of the incumbent,” the synopsis reads. “Faced with powerful opponents who seek to remove religion from politics, the film highlights the importance of religious values in shaping policy and governance.”
The film stars David A. R. White, Isaiah Washington, Dean Cain and Scott Baio. White reprises his role as the Reverend David Hill, a beloved preacher who faces yet another moral, and this time legislative, battle.
“Now more than ever, Christians must recognize that they are called to offer hope to a nation that feels hopeless,” Hill declares from the pulpit in the film’s trailer. “Faith begins where our comfort zone ends. We need to step into that faith.”
It looks like Hill’s faith will be tested once again in this new “God’s Not Dead” adventure. For more information on the film, check out the film’s official website.
