Kamlesh D. Patel, also known as Daji, the fourth spiritual leader of the Sahaj Marg system of Rajyoga meditation, believes that the best leaders walk the path of “heartfulness.”
The cloak of leadership can be a heavy one, with each fibre woven into it a thread of responsibility, obligation and necessity. Not everyone can wear it well. So what separates those who do and those who don’t? It may be an empathetic perspective, a sensitivity to the needs of others, an ability to encourage initiative and bring out the best in individuals.
Kamlesh D. Patel, the fourth spiritual leader of the Sahaj Marg system of Raj Yoga meditation, also known as Daaji, believes that the best leaders walk the path of “heartfulness.”
Daaji has been nurturing and inspiring young leaders around the world with what he calls “Heartfulness Leadership.”
Heartfulness style leadership is about embodying the heart values: kindness, empathy, compassion. [are important traits]”We all remember leaders and bosses who were arrogant and rude, and they are stored in our minds with negative feelings. But whenever we are in the presence of leaders who make a difference in our lives, we want to work with them. We even want to sacrifice our time for what they want you to do, because they are so present.”
Two tenets of good leadership are the ability to communicate, and another is to inspire trust: “It’s not just about saying ‘do this,’ but how the boss communicates it. [the task that’s important]Leaders need to do that in a very compassionate way and in a very private way. [that makes the employee feel] Yes, he [the boss] “They trust me and I know I can do it,” he added.
Daaji was born in Gujarat, India in 1956. He showed interest and talent in the art of meditation at an early age. In fact, he developed and began practicing his own form of meditation called “Heartfulness Meditation” at the age of 19. This does not mean that he abandoned mainstream education. He studied to become a pharmacist and then built a successful business. But he never stopped exploring the heartful state of being. He later became a teacher and then a spiritual leader.
Today, he is at the forefront of the Heartfulness movement globally, describing Heartfulness as a state of being focused on developing calm, sensitive human beings: “The practice of Heartfulness is not just for raising leaders, good husbands, good wives and good children. [are just] “The side effects of meditating,” he tells wknd.
Self-Improvement
The Heartfulness.org website describes heartfulness as a state in which the centre or locus of control is in the heart. In heartfulness, you transcend judgement and see things as they are. This kind of objectivity is rare. Daaji explains that often during meditation, negative self-talk gets in the way. It prevents you from looking at yourself. “Who wants to be criticised?” “If you can listen humbly, you can be reborn as a better person. So meditation is, [a Heartfulness] Meditation techniques make you sensitive from within and make you capable of continuous change. [evolving] for [the] “You get better, and as a result you become a better person,” Daj said, adding that the practice makes you more analytical, thoughtful and creative.
His programs are designed to give people agency and enable them to meditate, which can bring about healing and evolution. “To start a meditative heartfulness practice, you have to be trained under someone in some way, so we offer a few meditation sessions with individuals, who will meditate with you and help you meditate better, ground yourself better, and prepare for your personal spiritual journey,” says Daj.
The Heartfulness Institute is present in 170 countries with 5,000 meditation centres around the world. In Dubai, the Heartfulness Meditation Centre is located in the Jumeirah Lake Towers.
Heartful on the go
But if you’re in a place where you can’t find time to talk one-on-one with a meditation expert, you can download an app called heartsapp. [people] All you have to do is download it and follow the instructions, it’s that easy. You can meditate wherever you are, and whenever you want.”
The app connects people who want to meditate with trainers around the world. [you are ready to meditate]they can see [your request] And connect with you.”
When asked how many hours a day one should meditate, Daji laughed and replied, “24/7.” “It’s like building muscle memory,” he explained. Meditation can be difficult at first, but with enough practice, you’ll get to a point where it becomes “easy.”
“Through the practice of meditation one attains a meditative state of mind. [That way] Even if you meditate for just five minutes, the benefits are lasting.
“I have been meditating for a long time, and it is with that meditative mind that I continue to work,” says Daj.
Stumbling Blocks of Character
A relaxed but focused state of mind also helps us overcome biases. We are the sum of all our experiences and our emotional responses to these stimuli. And they color the lens through which we see the world. “That’s why Heartfulness Meditation encourages a different approach: I have to somehow undo all the brainwashing I’ve experienced,” says Daj.
To do this, it is important to realize that “every event that happens creates impressions on two levels: one at the mental level and one at the level of the heart. Psychologists call this storage of memories at the mental level cognitive memory. What is stored in the form of emotions remains at the emotional level, the burden of which is much heavier.”
Through meditation, we can develop certain qualities that help us forgive and move on. “And the moment we forgive, that burden goes away. It sets us free.”
See the whole picture
Imagine the kind of leader someone with an open mind and the ability to see the bigger picture would be, says Dazzi: “They would never have biases or preferences, and they would be able to distinguish between truly competent workers and those who aren’t. [one who is] “Not very efficient. And he helps that person become more efficient.”
They are the leaders who share compassion and kindness. They are the leaders who give the protection of courage and the guidance of strength. [the leaders] It is because of empathy that we can be so compassionate.”
How do you know if someone is a great leader? The answer is simple: look at an empowered, happy team. How do you get there? Start by looking inward. “You need to meditate,” Daaji says. “There’s no other way.”
