The Howard University women’s basketball team has signed a name, image and likeness agreement with Black Girl Vitamins, a Black-owned health and wellness company. The partnership will see the brand become the exclusive vitamin sponsor of the team, with the goal of improving player health and performance. As part of the agreement, the team will receive essential vitamins for coaches and financial support. The partnership will allow Black Girl Vitamins to impact player health and performance in line with its mission to support the Black community.
Lady Bisons head coach Ty Grace couldn’t contain her excitement about the partnership.
“We are so excited about this partnership,” Coach said. “As an organization that is deeply supportive of those making a positive impact in the Black community and beyond, Black Girl Vitamins has created a brand and products that promote our health and well-being. We look forward to great things to come!”
Black Girl Vitamin’s partnership with Howard University’s basketball team marks a significant milestone coinciding with the school’s 50th anniversary of women’s sports. In addition to nine MEAC regular season titles and 11 conference tournament titles, the team has also led the way off the court by providing NIL opportunities for players through its member organization, The Mecca. This collaboration with Black Girl Vitamin is a testament to the team’s commitment to promoting equality and empowerment for Black female athletes.
In a press release, Black Girl Vitamins announced that it will be implementing a monthly scholarship program of $1,000 for outstanding Black female students. Additionally, the company has committed to donating $100,000 this year to support the careers of Black health care workers.
“When Black women are healthy, our communities thrive,” the brand’s website states.
