The cubs are the second litters born to 8-year-old mother lion Dounia and her 12-year-old partner Hubert “Huey.” In May, Dounia gave birth to four cubs, and a few hours later surprised keepers by giving birth to a fifth. Tyler Boyd, curator of carnivores at the Oklahoma City Zoo, said it was a surprise that all five cubs were male. “Usually we have a pretty good ratio of males to females, but we had five males. The odds of all five being males are about 3 percent. This is going to make zoo history. We’re very excited. It’s going to be a great addition to the habitat here,” Boyd said. The cub is the second born to 8-year-old mother bear Dounia and her 12-year-old partner Hubert “Huey.” In May, Dounia gave birth to four cubs, then surprised keepers by giving birth to a fifth cub just hours later.
