There’s nothing better to celebrate the Fourth of July than red, white and blue food.

We’ve rounded up some of our favorite dessert recipes from celebrity chefs and Food Network stars, including twists on classic sweet treats like American Flag Cake and berry-filled bakes, plus plenty of delicious frozen treats to beat the summer heat.

While the no-bake filling can be prepared ahead of time, Moulton recommends waiting to pipe it: “The sugar in the filling will strip the moisture from the strawberries, making them soggy,” the PBS star says. Sarah’s weekday mealsAdd strawberries just before serving.

“I love this dish because it reminds me of eating pie at a barbecue,” celebrity chef Carla Hall says of the “not-too-sweet” dessert.

“You can use it for frosting and decorating and easily adapt it for a variety of holidays and celebrations,” the Food Network judge says. Summer Baking Championship (Now streaming on discovery+). “There are lots of different decorating options, including frosting and sprinkles. I even made a version where I cut out pastry shapes and baked them on top. Have fun!”

“As soon as you finish one, you’ll want another!” says Tanya Ngangan, consulting pastry chef at Old John’s Diner in New York City, of the soft, buttery, and “hypnotic” cookies.

“This recipe is perfect for the home cook because it doesn’t have that many ingredients and you probably already have most of the ingredients in your pantry,” she says. “It’s a very versatile blank canvas — you could easily substitute almond extract or lemon extract for the vanilla extract, for example.”

Berry Trifle with Whipped Mascarpone Cream

This summery, barbecue-friendly dish is “simple and quick to make,” says the chef and founder of Atlanta’s Forou Vakili restaurant Le Bon Noche. “You can’t go wrong. You can add a little more of this or a little less of that and still have a really delicious dessert.”

Vakili describes the flavor as similar to “strawberry shortcake,” but with more summer berries.
