STRONG Pilates, the world’s first Pilates and cardio-infused fitness franchise from Australia, today announced its expansion into the US, with plans to open its first flagship studio in Hermosa Beach, California this year. Plans for studio openings in Texas, New York and Florida are underway, with five to eight studio locations expected to be announced in the coming months.
This coincides with STRONG’s continued expansion across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, the UK and North America, as well as expansion into new geographies such as South Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Bahrain, Dubai and Japan. Underscoring the importance of the U.S. market to STRONG Pilates’ global strategy, this expansion will see STRONG Pilates’ first international headquarters opened in Los Angeles, California, joining the company’s existing global headquarters in Melbourne, Australia.
The news comes as the U.S. Pilates and yoga studio market, valued at $158.43 billion in 2023, is expected to grow to $420.98 billion by 2032. STRONG Pilates is poised to capture a significant market share with more than 150 STRONG studios currently in planning. The privately owned fitness franchise is on track to exceed AUD$35 million in total annual revenue by June 2024.

STRONG Pilates was founded by Australian duo Michael Ramsay and Mark Armstrong, who recognised the need for a low-impact, high-intensity form of fitness that incorporates cardiovascular training into the world’s leading fitness genre, Pilates. The duo, who were previously successful F45 franchise owners, sourced and exclusively licensed US-developed Rowformer and Bikeformer machines and devised a program that would challenge fitness enthusiasts in 45-minute sessions.
To manage the expansion of STRONG’s fitness model and drive rapid growth in the US market, the founders plan to relocate to a global headquarters in California in 2024 to capitalize on the greatest demand for their fitness services. “Expanding into the US marks a landmark step for STRONG Pilates,” said STRONG co-founder Michael Ramsey. “This is our most ambitious expansion to date, and we look forward to introducing our innovative fitness concept to the US market and meeting the demand for our unique format that sets new movement and fitness standards across the country.”
Mark Armstrong, co-founder of STRONG, added: “We’ve seen success in all geographies so far, with record numbers of members signing up prior to launch. Our proven model exemplifies dynamic service across all communities. We are currently accepting expressions of interest for studio locations across the U.S. and growth partners to join our vibrant fitness community.”

Since launching in 2019, STRONG Pilates has emerged as one of the world’s fastest growing fitness franchises, with over 55 studios across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Ireland, Singapore, Canada and Indonesia, with plans to open over 150 new studios. STRONG Pilates includes 45-minute sessions that combine Pilates, cardio, strength and resistance training using the innovative Rowformer and Bikeformer machines.
