Self-care will always be our favorite hobby, but we know that everyone has their own way of rejuvenating and putting themselves first. Every week, we ask celebs to share their perfect Sunday self-care routine, the go-to beauty product they’d recommend to a friend, the TV show they’re binge-watching right now, and more…
This week we feature Stef Williams (aka Stef Fit), the personal trainer, influencer and entrepreneur who has built a fitness empire with the hugely successful lifestyle app WeGlow and premium active brand SEFI, whose first two drops sold out within 24 hours.
When Steph isn’t working on her burgeoning business, she creates content and streams live workouts for her YouTube channel, which has 2.2 million Instagram followers and over 100,000 subscribers.
Steph spoke exclusively to Heat magazine about her skincare saviors, health tips and must-have beauty products…
Self-care
So what does the ultimate self-care Sunday look like for Steph?
“Running multiple businesses doesn’t always allow me to devote a whole Sunday to self-care. Instead, I try to do small, frequent increments, especially when I need a pick-me-up during the week.”
“I love an all-in-one shower that includes a body scrub, shave, hair mask and hair wash. I alternate between Tropic Body Smooth Refresh Polish Scrub and Elemis Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow Body Scrub. I’m obsessed with Kerastase and Redken haircare products, and my husband and I both use Cowshed Active Bath & Shower Gel. I recently started an Estride subscription and it makes me feel like an adult. I try to apply body oils while my skin is still wet; the oil absorbs so well you need less. Elemis Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend is my go-to, and Tropic Whipped Body Velvet Cream turns into an oil on contact with the skin.”
About Skin Care
“I love Vitamin C, so the Sunday Riley CEO Glow Vitamin C & Turmeric Face Oil is a staple in my skincare routine. I also use the FaceGym Face Coach Oil in combination with the MultiSculpt Gua Sha Tool, which is great for de-puffing and sculpting the face.
“Vichy Mineral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Booster is great for adding a radiant glow to the skin. Most nights I also use Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. To keep lips smooth, you can’t go wrong with Carmex. Since Christmas I’ve also started using Lord Glazing Milk – it’s the best, as the perfect make-up base.”
About the movement…
Steph doesn’t want to see women fall into unsustainable diet and exercise plans, and instead wants them to take a holistic approach to fitness and health by incorporating a variety of exercises…
“I believe exercise should be fun. When I launched WeGlow, it was really important to me to have variety in the app to prevent burnout. You can’t strength train every day. You need to do yoga or breathing exercises to relax your body between intense workouts.”
“I’m a regular personal trainer as well as a Pilates instructor, so I like to combine weight training, Pilates and running. I train six to seven days a week, which may seem like a lot, but it’s low-impact exercise so you can keep doing it and not worry about burning out. Sometimes I can only fit in 10 minutes of core training a day, but any little bit is better than none at all, and it really does make a difference. On low-intensity training days, I aim to walk 10,000 to 15,000 steps.”
“It’s really important to set goals that aren’t based on weight loss or aesthetics. Don’t just train your core for the sake of getting great abs, focus on other benefits like improving your posture and preventing injury. Pilates teaches you core coordination, so I make a conscious effort to engage my core even when I’m at my desk or waiting in line for coffee. It’s the little things outside of training that make a big difference.”
Makeup essentials
Before becoming an influencer, Steph worked as a makeup artist and we’re obsessed with her soft, natural and super radiant looks.
“I’ve been using MAC face and body foundation since I was 19. It’s very lightweight, buildable and gives you light coverage without looking like natural skin. For a hint of colour on my cheeks, I love the Armani Luminous Silk Glow Blush. I always go for cream products as they are easier to blend than powder products. For my brows, the REFY Brow Tint is great for keeping my brows in place.
“A trick I like to do is use a makeup brush to contour my face with fake tan. This is great for adding extra dimension to the face or to prep for days when I don’t want to wear makeup. I alternate between Loving Tan Bronzing Mousse and St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse and Purity Face Mist. The mist really helps set makeup in place too.”
“I grew up reading a lot of Bobbi Brown books and I love her belief that beauty is universal and that it’s important to accentuate your strengths rather than trying to hide your flaws.”
About your morning routine
“I want to be a healthy, grateful girl who journals every morning, but because I’m dyslexic I prefer to visualize my goals and practice gratitude in my mind throughout the day. I don’t use my phone and make sure to hydrate as soon as I wake up. I use HumantraHydration Hack electrolytes every day – the elderberry flavour is amazing. I then have a cup of matcha before heading to the gym on an empty stomach and training. Twice a week after the gym I do a 15-minute sauna and ice session – it’s really good for my skin and helps prevent breakouts.”
On managing your mental health…
“It’s really important to surround yourself with positive people – I call them ‘radiators’ – people who are warm and you can talk to about anything that’s bothering you. I’m really lucky that my job is so rewarding and gives me a strong sense of purpose by helping other women be the best version of themselves. It’s very fulfilling and I always remind myself of that during stressful times. That said, I’ve learned that it’s okay to set boundaries when necessary. Not everything is urgent and if your health is at risk, you can wait a day. I always think that going to bed early is the best solution. There’s no point staying up late scrolling through negative news or watching TV when you can sleep.”
About sleep rituals
“I’ve found that with the World Cup games playing in the background, the sounds of rugby really help me fall asleep. I think the white noise calms the mind and blocks out distracting thoughts. For a while I got my husband to play Wales v Fiji every night before I went to bed. The same with tennis sounds. I actually went to Wimbledon one year and fell asleep to the repetitive sound of rackets hitting balls. I don’t know what to say, I’m just sleepy.”
Quick Fire Round:
Are you currently binge-watching? Bridgerton. It’s one of those shows where you can watch and do something in the background.
What’s your favorite drink? I don’t drink tea, but I love Clearspring matcha and Rude Health almond milk mixed with my Nutribullet.
What’s your favorite loungewear brand? SEFI, of course. Their Timeless collection is my go-to set that I wear to the gym every day. There’s something for everyone and the neutral colors go with every outfit.
A perfume you use every day? I’m wearing Creed Royal Princess.
What’s your favorite takeaway? I love the fish and chips takeaway from Fishers in Fulham and I also get pizza takeaway every week from Verillo on the Munster Road. I’ve been to Italy and to be honest, Verillo’s pizza is better. My favourite pizza is the marinara – traditional Italian without cheese. I try not to use the word ‘treat’ because if I’m craving something, I never restrict myself to a food group. It’s all about balance.
What’s your favorite face mask? I’m a big fan of eye masks, but I also occasionally use the Ole Henrikson Dewtopia Acid Flash Facial Mask.
What’s your favorite candle? I love a great Jo Malone or Diptyque candle.
