The wellness fair is part of the “CATCH in 5” initiative, which aims to reduce the gap in life expectancy by five years within five years.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina A&T State University hosted a Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 29 in partnership with Cone Health.
The two organized the “Building a Better You” Community Wellness Fair to address East Greensboro’s 15-year life expectancy gap.
Organizers said the event tested for silent killers such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high blood sugar.
One leader says it’s a way to prevent chronic diseases before it’s too late.
“This is our way of going upstream to prevent complications of chronic diseases that are actually treatable,” said Olu Jegede, vice president of health equity at Cone Health.
Leaders said the wellness fair was part of the “CATCH in 5” initiative, which aims to close the gap in life expectancy by five years within five years.
