Comprehensive and accessible mental health support remains a major need for LGBTQI+ youth, with more than half of queer young people in the United States not receiving the mental health care they wanted last year.
According to The Trevor Project’s national survey on mental health among LGBTQ+ youth in the US, 39% of LGBTQ+ young people have seriously considered suicide in the past year, including 46% of transgender and non-binary young people.
The nonprofit Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services provides mental health, substance use disorder and suicide prevention services, including affirming services and resources for LGBTQI+ people.
“We celebrate the LGBTQI+ community and provide the resources and support individuals need to succeed, no matter where they are in their journey,” said Dr. Christine Santoro, Chief Operating Officer at Didi Hirsch.
