Many of us take vitamins, minerals, and other nutritional supplements every day to maintain our health and well-being. But popping a pill like this is not enough. Without considering the best time If you stop taking the medicine, it may become less effective or cause unexpected side effects.

“Understanding the optimal timing to take supplements plays a major role in how well they work. Tailoring your supplement intake to a specific time of the day can help improve absorption and maximize effectiveness,” says Shubha Ramesh L, Chief Dietitian, DHEE Hospital. Better health. “

Factors to consider when deciding on the best time to take supplements

When deciding the best time to take your supplements, there are several factors to consider: “Every vitamin and mineral is different. Easily absorbed at a specific time “The daily dosage is once a day. Some supplements need to be taken with a meal, while others need to be taken on an empty stomach,” says Shubha.

She adds that timing can help minimize side effects like stomach upset: “To stay consistent, pick a time that works with your daily schedule.”

Specific vitamins and minerals and the best times to take them

Shubha suggests the best time to take these particular supplements:

Celebration Offer

Vitamin D: Because it’s a fat-soluble vitamin, it’s best taken with breakfast, especially if your diet includes fat. Getting some morning sunlight can also boost its benefits.

Omega-3: For best absorption, take with food, preferably lunch or dinner. Reduces the risk of fishy smell and burping.

Vitamin B: Because it’s water-soluble, it’s best taken in the morning – B vitamins support metabolism, so taking them at this time can help maintain energy levels throughout the day.

magnesium: It has a calming effect on the muscles and nervous system, which can promote relaxation and improve the quality of your sleep, so it is ideal to take it in the evening.

Differences in timing between water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins

Shubha explains that the timing is different for water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins, and here’s why:

Water-soluble vitamins (vitamin C, vitamin B, etc.): These vitamins are water soluble. For best absorption, best taken in the morning or between meals on an empty stomach.

Fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E, K, etc.): These require dietary fat to be absorbed, so they are best consumed with a meal that contains healthy fats so they can be properly absorbed into the bloodstream.
