PHILADELPHIA, June 20, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — LevLane Advertising, one of Philadelphia’s oldest independent full-service advertising agencies, and Rosy Wellness, a Webby Award-winning app-based platform that addresses common health concerns for women throughout their lives, have teamed up to release a white paper titled “The Women Are Not Alright,” addressing key issues surrounding women’s health.
In this white paper, the team uncovers important links between mental and sexual health and the barriers to comprehensive care women face. The report highlights significant healthcare disparities in women’s health and the urgent need for better solutions, and offers practical recommendations to improve women’s health outcomes.
“We’re excited to share this white paper, which delves into the real challenges women face when it comes to their mental and sexual health,” said Liz Weir, chief marketing officer at Revlane and co-author of the study. “As an agency, our mission is to uncover insights that inspire meaningful conversations and positive change. We hope this research will not only highlight these important issues, but also inspire better ideas and solutions for our clients and the wider market to truly support women’s well-being.”
Survey data revealed that women with sexual problems were 30% more likely to have poor health and 15% more likely to report less satisfaction with their sex lives.
Additionally, nearly 50% of women rank some kind of mental health concern as their top health priority, with issues such as depression and anxiety having a major impact on their sexual health.
“This study is crucial as it highlights the critical need for comprehensive, expert-led solutions in women’s health,” said Lindsay Harper, MD, CEO of Rosie Wellness and co-author of the white paper. “We need to change the way we discuss and treat women’s health issues, so we can provide patients with the evidence-based answers and empowerment they need to improve their overall quality of life.”
The authors argue that promoting stronger and more accessible education programs, encouraging integrated care through payer commitments, calling for renewed action from the investment community to prioritize funding for women’s health, and advancing research on the connections between mental health and sexual health will lead to practical solutions and an end to stigma.
“We are advocating for a more holistic approach to addressing women’s needs, ensuring equal priority and attention is given to both their mental health and sexual health,” said co-author Carla Loken, MD, OB-GYN, FACOG, vice president of medical affairs and clinical operations at HerMD and strategic advisor to FEMSelect.
To coincide with the release of the white paper, its findings and recommendations were discussed at Kisaco Research’s June Women’s Health Innovation Series, “Empowering Women Through Collaboration: Closing the Mental Health and Sexual Health Gap.”
