Punjab Health Commissioner Dr Hatinder Kaur said he has notified the civil surgeon in Patiala to submit a preliminary report within 48 hours. Dr Kiran of Rajan Nursing Home (BAMS) said the woman started bleeding after the delivery. As the nursing home could not control the bleeding, the woman was referred to Rajindra Hospital. However, she died soon after admission.
A post-mortem examination has already been conducted at the Rajindra Government Hospital, but doctors have refused to disclose the details of the report.The report states that the deceased’s husband, Krishan Singh, has alleged that his wife died due to negligence.

It is the province of obstetricians and gynaecologists to identify complications during childbirth and address them in a timely manner. Failure to do so indicates a lack of expertise in obstetrics and medical facilities. The government should take measures to ensure such incidents do not happen again, he added.
