Mothers and families struggling with postpartum depression or simply trying to navigate the struggles of parenting can get some help through a new wellness centre that opened in Regina on Saturday.
The center is called the I Love You More Wellness Center and will have a variety of resources available to mothers and families in need.
One of the resources that will be offered is counseling through Prairie Hearts Counselling, which owner Lindsay Gareau said will have a drop-in program every weekday.
“We have a variety of service partners who will be hosting these programs. Twice a week we will be hosting a morning program called ‘Mommy Needs Coffee’ for people who have kids who get up at 5 o’clock,” she said.
The centre was established in memory of Renee Ferguson, a Regina mother who died by suicide in October 2023.

“Society and Hollywood make it seem like being a mother is amazing and lovely and always amazing, but it’s not. You start to have a lot of really intrusive thoughts like, ‘Am I not good enough, what am I doing wrong, what is wrong with me?'” she said.
“When we have a baby, our contacts change a lot in terms of our support system, and having a place you can go with people who are at the same stage in life can really help you make those connections.”
According to the center, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are the leading cause of complications during childbirth, affecting one in five mothers and one in 10 partners.
