Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds 5K is pleased to announce the event’s community sponsors: Next week, Keweenaw Community Foundation, Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds and the Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to bring the Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds 5K and fair to Eagle Harbor.
The event encourages residents and visitors to get outside, be active and raise mental health awareness. Mohawk Technology, the bronze sponsor of Shine the Light 5K, donated $500 to the event. The event’s silver sponsor is Impaled Tattoo and Piercing. Bronze sponsors are Calumet Electronics, Frozen Farms CO, Phoenix General Store and Wildkat Builders.
Keweenaw Healthy Minds volunteer Michelle Morgan said the commitment each sponsor made to the event shows the community’s willingness to help others. Keweenaw County Sheriff Kurt Penara added that working with the Keweenaw Community Foundation to support 4 Healthy Minds and bring the event to the Eagle Harbor area was a great opportunity and he looks forward to joining residents in supporting the effort next week.
Participants in the 5K race will also have the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon picnic with their group while children play basketball with deputies and check out their equipment in a truck touch activity. Those interested in participating in the Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds 5K race next Thursday in Eagle Harbor can find details and registration information here. Registration for the 5K race is $25 per person. Those who register by tomorrow will also receive a T-shirt commemorating the event. Those who register after June 21 are not guaranteed to receive a commemorative shirt.
