September 27 Apollo ReiLondon-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Luis (Ray) Pabloreleased their debut album,In orbit‘ is a cinematic, dynamic and emotional journey that transports the listener into a world that is both surreal and strangely familiar.
Inspired by a fantastical atmosphere David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks”Pablo: Angelo Badalamenti‘s evocative compositions create a haunting sense of familiarity and ineffable longing throughout In Orbit. With this foundation firmly established, he weaves a tapestry of diverse influences. StereolabAvant-garde textures, cosmic symphonies Brian Wilson’s Pet Sounds And chameleon-like artistry David Bowie.
A classically trained pianist, Pablo has a wide range of skills including composing, engineering, producing, mixing, tour managing and serving as a backline and session musician on live tours. His previous bands include JuiceHaving self-released two studio albums and toured extensively including appearances at some of the UK’s most prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Shambhala and Green Man, he now works as a backline technician and Ableton session musician. Elvis Costello and the Imposters They have toured the UK, Europe, USA, Australia and Japan.
The birth of “In Orbit” began during a residency in the Synth Room at Echo Zoo Studios in the English seaside town of Eastbourne, where he collaborated with fellow artists, learned recording techniques from the in-house engineers, and drew inspiration from the studio’s fast-paced rotations and lively sessions. This nurturing and inspiring environment allowed Pablo’s creativity to flourish, enriched by the shared vision and creative synergy of his peers.
But it was a six-month residency with a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist (and eventual band member). Leonie Evans The essence of the album crystallized in a castle in the south of France. Within its storied walls, Pablo found a sanctuary of introspection and artistic exploration, surrounded by centuries of history and inspired by the mystery that surrounded him. Lost in its labyrinthine corridors, he conversed with ghosts and the echoes of the Templars who once roamed its halls, imbuing his music with a mystical depth born of introspection and ethereal communion.
Filled with memorable melodies, powerful motifs, ethereal textures and poignant lyrics, “In Orbit” is a testament to Pablo’s ambition: to create music that seamlessly blends diverse influences while remaining undeniably unique.
