In August 2024, on the beautiful Göcek Coast, Ahma Set on the white sand beach of a secluded bay and surrounded by 11 hectares of protected forest, Ahma reflects the natural environment and rich Lycian traditions that characterize this region of Turkey.

Ancient Lycians The people who once inhabited this part of Turkey were known as “The People of Light,” and the importance of light is integral to every aspect of Ahma’s architecture and design. Beautiful, tranquil spaces bathed in natural light can be found throughout Ahma. These spaces capture the design ethos of the “Land of Light,” allowing room for the mind and body to breathe.

design

Ahama’s architecture is designed to blend in with and connect with the natural environment. Materials such as wood, stone and linen, along with a warm terracotta color palette, reflect the beauty of the land and the textures of the natural environment. The grounds are designed to encourage guests to stroll barefoot and comfortably throughout the grounds.

Ahama will open with 30 cabanas and villas, four dining spaces, an outdoor yoga shala, a gym, massage areas and a pool shaped like an upside-down temple sunken into the ground. Stüdyo AB Architecture in IstanbulCollaboration with concept and creative director Gabriela Paraty To realise Ahma’s vision.

This vision is reflected throughout the interior design, which includes a curation of artworks, repurposed artisan furniture, and carefully selected pieces sourced from vintage fairs and art galleries in Istanbul and London. Interior touches such as tiles and kilim rugs were made exclusively for Ahma by Turkish artisans. Ahma also features numerous commissioned pieces by up-and-coming young artists, as well as a selection of contemporary pieces from the world of contemporary art. Hiroshi Sugimoto More than 50 works with a seascape theme will be on display.

Five two-bedroom cabanas and 25 one-bedroom cabanas each offer unique views ranging from tranquil forest to serene ocean, and twin cabana rooms range in size up to 1,600 square feet. Spacious villas feature three luxurious bedrooms, infinity pools, private docks and views of the local flora that permeate the entire ahama.

The Ahama project is characterised by its respect for the local nature and culture. Respect for the natural environment can be seen throughout the design, as well as in Ahama’s eco-friendly disposal of waste and water. It was created by a Spanish landscape architect. Guided by Natalie Galli Wellness programs offer an immersive journey from the moment of arrival, as guests are invited to explore secluded meditation spots in the surrounding forest and embark on a path to inner peace and rejuvenation. Gali’s team expertly blends holistic Anatolian practices with Eastern and Western approaches, with each member bringing their own unique expertise, from body breathwork and art therapy to transformational sound baths.

A multi-functional sound temple designed by a renowned Mexican architect and designer will open in 2025. Hector EslawetThe temple will be the venue for sound healing ceremonies to harmonize the body, mind and soul. Ahama is also set to open a wellness centre and spa, a mezcal bar and a concept store in 2025.

With marinas, protected bays and access to the Aegean and Mediterranean coastlines, Gocek has long been a popular yachting destination, and the arrival of Ahma has further expanded the area’s appeal with its focus on slow life, wellness and gastronomy, allowing guests to get in touch with nature and be inspired by the region’s rich history. Traces of the ancient Lycian civilisation, including rock tombs and monuments, can be found along the dramatic cliffs and secluded bays of the mountainous coastline.
