New Delhi [India]June 18: To mark the 10th anniversary of the Dr. Stia Paul Memorial Lecture, Apeejay Stia and Suvran Group hosted an important gathering at the Apeejay School Auditorium, Panchsheel Park. This year’s theme was “Spiritualizing Life: Swami Vivekananda’s Practical Vedanta” and brought together eminent leaders and thinkers to discuss in depth about incorporating spirituality into everyday life. Attended by a diverse range of dignitaries including education leaders, industry stalwarts, bureaucrats, diplomats and executives of trade associations, the event highlighted the importance of spiritual values in fostering a more compassionate and understanding global community. The keynote address by Swami Sarvapriyananda, pastor and spiritual leader of the New York Vedanta Society, highlighted the importance of implementing spiritual principles into everyday actions. “True spirituality is about transforming every action into a spiritually enriching experience and making everyday interactions as spiritually profound as meditation,” he explained. “By incorporating spiritual awareness into our daily practices, we not only uplift ourselves but also our communities, creating a ripple effect of mindfulness and compassion in society. Spirituality should not be confined to the solitude of a retreat; it needs to engage with the hustle and bustle of everyday life and bring peace and clarity to our actions,” Swami said. Guest of Honour Swami Shantatmananda, Director, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Institute of Values, Gurugram, reflected on the impact of such teachings on the contemporary education system. He praised Apeejay Sutya and the Suvran Group for incorporating these values into their educational framework, thus significantly shaping the character and ethics of young learners.

Ms. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Sutya and Suvran Group, shared a deep personal perspective on the legacy of her father, Dr. Sutya Paul. “My father’s vision was to embed the core values of integrity, service and spiritual growth into every aspect of our education and business practices so that our pursuits would not only be successful but also socially responsible and ethically sound,” she said. “My father taught us that true leadership does not come from authority or power, but from humility, compassion and the desire to serve others. This lecture series is a tribute to my father’s visionary ideals, which continue to inspire us to innovate and lead responsibly,” said Ms. Berlia. Ms. Berlia also emphasized the importance of sustaining the legacy of transformative education and leadership. “Let us continue this spiritual and moral educational journey and strive to equip our future leaders with not only professional skills but also a deep moral and spiritual understanding to guide their decision-making,” she said. Mrs. Berlia reflected that whatever path we pursue, we are also in the pursuit of happiness. True happiness is not a by-product of our achievements alone but is linked to our highest purpose. This annual commemorative lecture is not only a tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Stya Paul but also a catalyst for an ongoing discussion on leadership and the role of spirituality in contemporary social challenges, inspiring participants to lead lives enriched with purpose, integrity and service.
