KANPUR: Police on Saturday arrested a father-son duo for illegally selling Ayurvedic medicines from a grocery shop under Gwaltoli police station in Civil Lines district. Samples have been obtained and sent to the state analytical laboratory to verify the authenticity of the medicines. Police arrested the shop owner and his son for selling Ayurvedic medicines for joint pain and other ailments without a license. A complaint was received at Gwaltoli police station about fake Ayurvedic medicines being sold at a grocery shop in Civil Lines district, following which police reached the spot along with a team of district Ayurvedic officers and found Ayurvedic oils and other medicines of famous brands in the shop. District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer Dr Raghavendra Pratap Singh said a complaint was received from a Faridabad-based Ayurvedic medicines manufacturing company that fake medicines were being sold under its name in Kanpur. “When police searched the shop, they found Ayurvedic medicines for arthritis and other ailments. Further action will be taken after receiving the test reports of the samples,” the official further said.
