MANILA, Philippines — Chief Executive Minister and Bishop of the Pentecostal Church of Christ (PMCC 4th Watch) Jonathan S. Ferriol described his father, the late Apostle Arsenio T. Ferriol, as “a country boy who became a giant of the faith.”
Bishop Ferriol spoke of his love for his father, who founded PMCC Fourth Watch in 1972.
“My dad loved Christ above all else. He lived his life according to His purpose and will. He loved God and those around him, but what made him different was that he knew the Lord’s grace was in his life and he was always under God’s grace and mercy,” Ferriol said in a statement.
Ferriol was born and raised in Barrio Anahao, Odiongan, Romblon, and according to a press release, he was given a vision on the third day of a fast in 1958. The following year, in 1959, he answered the call to evangelism and “stepped into the world of the Bible.”
This Father’s Day, Ferriol’s family is remembering his legacy as patriarch of the family and spiritual father to many.
“Having a father like Apostle Ferriol, or I call him Tay, gives me security even though I am already an adult. He was my mentor, my biggest fan, my critic and my best friend. Tay didn’t just raise me, he made me,” Bishop Ferriol said.
Apostle Ferriol passed away on May 19th at the age of 88.
The faithful and the church paid tribute to him at the Apostle Arsenio T. Ferriol Sports Complex.
Throughout the period of communal mourning and celebration, the brethren of the Fourth Watch honored Apostle Ferriol’s teachings of faith, compassion and service.
Special events such as prayer vigils, community service events and memorial lectures are held to preserve his legacy.
“Looking back on the life of Apostle Arsenio Ferriol, we are reminded of the profound impact of his fatherly love and guidance. His memory lives on in the hearts of those whom he guided to overcome life’s challenges with unwavering faith and compassion.”
“In the spirit of Apostle Ferriol, let us continue his teachings and nurture our community with the same enthusiasm and kindness that he embodied. May his legacy inspire future generations to pursue a life of service, guided by the principles of faith and charity that Apostle Ferriol so passionately upheld,” the bishop added.
