Father’s Day is the perfect occasion to show your appreciation and love for your dad by baking him a delicious cake. Whether he prefers classic flavors or something a little more adventurous, these easy cake recipes are sure to make his day special. Here are some delicious cakes that are easy to make.
Classic Vanilla Sponge Cake
First, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. In a mixing bowl, beat 1 cup softened butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat 4 eggs, one at a time, and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Sift together 2 cups all-purpose flour and 2 teaspoons baking powder. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture, alternating with 1 cup milk. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool, then spread with Dad’s favorite icing or serve as is, sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Chocolate Fudge Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. In a large bowl, mix 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, and 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda. In a separate bowl, beat ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder and 1 ½ cups boiling water until smooth. Allow to cool slightly. In a separate bowl, beat 1 cup butter and 2 cups sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, 3 at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients and cocoa mixture to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely and decorate with chocolate ganache or buttercream.

Lemon Drizzle Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan. In a mixing bowl, beat 1 cup softened butter and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat 4 eggs, one at a time, and add the zest of 2 lemons. Sift 2 cups self-rising flour and gently fold into mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. For the lemon sauce, combine the juice of 2 lemons and 1 cup powdered sugar. While the cake is still warm, pierce the cake all over with a skewer and pour the lemon sauce over the top. Allow the cake to cool in the pan before slicing.

Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, whisk together 4 eggs, 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil, and 2 cups granulated sugar. Stir in 3 cups grated carrots. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Divide batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow cake to cool completely before spreading with the cream cheese frosting. Make the cream cheese frosting with 8 ounces softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup softened butter, 4 cups powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Banana Bread Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan. Mash 3 ripe bananas in a bowl and mix with ⅓ cup melted butter. Add ¾ cup sugar, 1 beaten egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and mix well. Sift together 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Stir the dry ingredients into the banana mixture. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf and bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow bread to cool before slicing and serving.
Strawberry Shortcake
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease a baking sheet. In a bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, ¼ cup sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Cut ⅓ cup cold butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Add 1 cup milk and stir until just combined. Spoon the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Allow the shortcake to cool, then cut it in half and fill it with sweet whipped cream and fresh strawberries.

Red Velvet Cake
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans. In a bowl, sift 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 1 ½ cups sugar, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon cocoa powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 ½ cups vegetable oil, 1 cup buttermilk, 2 large eggs, 2 tablespoons red food coloring, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon white vinegar. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until smooth. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Once cakes are cooled, spread with the cream cheese frosting.

Celebrate your dad this Father’s Day with these delicious cakes. Bake together or surprise him with a homemade treat – it’s up to you. The effort and love that goes into these cakes will make his day a memorable one.
