Since 2008, athletes from Roscoe, Rockton and other areas have looked forward to participating in the annual Prairie Triathlon at North Point Health and Wellness. This year’s triathlon and relay race was held on Saturday, June 8, 2024. This year marks the 16th year for this annual event.
Beginning at 8 a.m., triathletes and relay competitors began the first of three events: biking a 17-mile beautiful country course, swimming 350 yards (seven laps) in the Wellness Center pool, and running a 3.1-mile loop on the Wellness Center’s campus trail.
Triathletes parked their bikes along the North Point Triathlon & Relay course on Saturday morning, June 8, after completing a scenic 17-mile road race. The bike race was followed by a 350-yard swim in the Wellness Center pool. The final event was a 3.1-mile foot race.In addition to the individual triathlon participants, a triathlon relay was also held on the day, with team competitors of three (of all ages and fitness levels) completing either a bike, swim or run event.
The fun fair on the North Point grounds kept little ones engaged all morning, with Pickles the Clown twisting balloons into animal shapes, several popular bounce houses, sweet treats, a smoky fire station from the Harlem Roscoe Fire Department, games and a raptor display from Northern Illinois Raptor Rehabilitation.
Race entry fees will be donated to the Stateline Boys & Girls Club.
