JHAJAR: Committed to the cause of the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for several development projects worth over Rs 48,100 crore in Rajkot, Gujarat. The projects include key sectors like healthcare, roads, railways, energy, oil & gas and tourism.
Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Kayani, where the PM inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) along with four other colleges at Rajkot, Bathinda, Rae Bareli and Mangalagiri for the people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed the importance of nutrition, yoga, Ayush and cleanliness and said, “The government is prioritising disease prevention and the ability to fight it.” The Prime Minister highlighted India’s efforts to promote both traditional and modern medicine and cited the examples of two large hospitals and research centres related to yoga and naturopathy that have been opened in Maharashtra and Haryana. The Prime Minister also said that a WHO Global Centre related to traditional medicine systems is also being set up here in Gujarat.

The Prime Minister emphasised that the mission of ‘Vikshit Bharat’ becomes stronger when the people of India are empowered. “If Prime Minister Modi is committed to making India the third largest economy in the world, then the goal is health for all and prosperity for all,” the Prime Minister concluded.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal said, “Today is a historic day for our nation. Ever since Mr. Narendra Modi raised the motto ‘All things equal’ and mobilised 1.4 billion Indians with welfare policies. As many as 23 AIIMS have been established across the country under Pradhan Mantri Swastha Suraksha Yojana, which is one of the greatest achievements for our people since Independence. With more such health policies being implemented, the healthcare delivery system of the country will be strengthened, providing a golden opportunity to our people to lead a prosperous life with dignity and honour.” Going forward, I believe AIIMS at Kalyani will be a powerful centre of medical services in line with PM Modi’s vision of ‘Heal in India, be healed by India’. This facility will also spur medical tourism as a strong contender for the future of healthcare value-light in the region.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated two Ayurvedic institutes – the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) at Jhajjar, Haryana and the National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) named “NISARG GRAM” at Pune, Maharashtra.
Commenting on the inauguration of the Ayush institutes, Ayush Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “The Prime Minister of India has also launched two major initiatives for the Ayush healthcare system in the country. Along with modern healthcare services, the Ayush healthcare system has received a major boost today, which will provide a wider range of patient care solutions to the people. On behalf of the Ministry of Ayush, I would like to express my gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inaugurating two prestigious institutes – the Central Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy at Jhajjar, Haryana and the National Institute of Naturopathy named ‘Nisarg Gram’ at Pune, Maharashtra.”
The Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN), located in Jhajjar, Haryana, is a premier facility for research and education in Yoga and Naturopathy. The project will create a tertiary level Yoga and Naturopathy healthcare infrastructure. The institute will have a 200-bed hospital with OPD, treatment block, academic block, hostel and residential block, besides a yoga block and a diet block. The 19-acre project has been constructed at a cost of Rs 638.8 crore.
NISARG GRAM is a 250-bed hospital with a multi-disciplinary research and extension services centre and a naturopathic medical college for undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and para-medical courses. The college also has residential and non-residential facilities like male and female hostels, auditorium, yoga hall, cottages and the famous Gandhi Memorial is also an integral part of the campus. The 25-acre project has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2,135.5 million.
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who was present on the occasion as the Guest of Honour, was joined by Honourable Governor of West Bengal CV Ananda Bose, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nishith Pramanik, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shantanu Thakur, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs John Birla and Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Subhash Sarkar, who were the Chief Guests at the AIIMS Kalyani event.
