CABAROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) — The Provincial Health Office (PHO) here recently conducted an advanced acupuncture training for health workers to integrate traditional and complementary medicine with modern medical practices.
The training, conducted in collaboration with the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine (PITAHC) and the Department of Health’s Center for Health Development, involved health workers from hospitals and local health units in six towns across the region.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Mira J. Villar said the training, led by certified acupuncturist Ferdinand Dailo, will enable health care workers to provide more comprehensive care and effective treatment options to patients.
“Acupuncture is increasingly being integrated into primary health care systems around the world as part of a comprehensive approach to patient care, combining traditional Chinese medicine with modern medicine to address a range of health issues,” Biller said.
Additionally, Biller said continued investment in acupuncture training will further strengthen the province’s health care system and promote a holistic approach to patient health and wellbeing.
Meanwhile, PHO Quirino Wellness Clinic and RHU Maddela Wellness Clinic will receive the Gold Seal of Excellence award for their efforts in raising the profile of traditional and complementary medicine not only in the province but also across the country.
RHU Sagday and RHU Nagtipunan will also be the recipients of the Silver Seal of Excellence award in the PITAHC Traditional and Complementary Medicine Champions Quest to be held on July 27, 2024 in Manila.
Villar expressed his gratitude to the state government led by Governor Dax Cua and Rep. Midi Cua for their continued support to the state’s health programme.
