Minneapolis — Pilates is a full-body workout that can be done in the comfort of your own home. All you need for this latest fitness trend is a mat and a wall.
Jacqueline Munoz shared her wall pilates journey on TikTok.
“The reason I started posting at-home classes is because I know that not everyone can afford reformer classes, as they are quite expensive,” Munoz says.
She says she has noticed a change since starting wall Pilates.
“It’s changed a lot, not just how I look on the outside, but how I feel on the inside,” she says. “I definitely feel a lot stronger than I ever was.”

Daniel Linneweber, owner of Purposeful Pilates in Minneapolis’ North Loop, says wall pilates is effective.
“It all depends on the instructor and what you’re trying to get out of it,” Linneweber says. “The wall provides support and aids in balance and control, and having your hands and feet against the wall also helps with core connection.”
Linneweber says mat pilates is just as effective.
“It’s about precision and control and small movements,” she said.
If you do try Pilates at home, she says to keep safety in mind and only follow videos from certified Pilates instructors.
“You don’t have to be a supermodel, you don’t have to be a dancer, you don’t have to be a woman,” she said.
Linneweber says Pilates moves can be easily adapted for any skill level — her clients range from marathon runners to people in their 80s.
