The Livingston County Children’s Health Board will host its 16th annual Back to School Grand Event on Tuesday, July 30, at the North Gymnasium of the Grand River YMCA, 1725 Locust Street in Chillicothe.
Livingston County’s “Great Back to School Sale” is open to Livingston County residents in kindergarten through grade 12. There are no funding requirements.
To receive free backpacks and school supplies, parents must register their student for the event online at this link. All registrations must be completed by Sunday, July 14, 2024. Assistance with online registration is available at the MU Extension office and Livingston County Health Center.
School supplies will only be available for pick-up during the Back to School Bonanza on Tuesday, July 30th, 2024 from 11am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm at the YMCA North Gym.
New this year, from 3 to 6 p.m., Livingston County Health Center will partner with MU ParentLink to host “Family Fun Fest,” an event where families can access valuable resources and services and create memories with their children.
ParentLink is a statewide, non-profit program funded by the Missouri Department of Human Services and the Veterans United Foundation and is an extension of the University of Missouri.
In addition to the booths, there will be refreshments, face painting, eye tests, roaming entertainers performing magic tricks, balloon tying and juggling, prizes and a raffle for two bicycles.
Eligible attendees can also enroll in SNAP, TANF and Medicaid. Families who participate from 11am to 1pm are welcome to return for the afternoon Family Fun Fest.
This community event is made possible through the generous support of local businesses, grants and individuals. Because the event involves students from all grade levels in Livingston County, additional funds are needed to purchase school supplies. Those interested in donating can contact Jessica Trussell at 646-0811 or mail donations to the University of Missouri Extension office at 511 Elm Street in Chillicothe. Checks should be made payable to MU Extension.
