ONTARIO — Ohio Area Agencies on Aging District 5 (AAA5) has announced an upcoming Lunch and Learn event to encourage enrollment in the Aging Area Agencies Wellness Coach volunteer program.
The event is open to people of all ages, professions and stages of life and will take place on July 19th from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Hawkins Conference Centre, 2131 Park Avenue West, Ontario.
In-person attendees will receive a free lunch and information about the benefits of volunteering in the agency’s health classes: Active Living Every Day, Diabetes Empowerment Education Program, Matter of Balance, Tai Chi and Stepping On.
If you or know someone who enjoys teaching others, public speaking, health and wellness, and making an impact in your community, this Lunch & Learn is for you!
The Lunch & Learn session will feature a presentation on “The Benefits of Volunteering” by AccelWELL Coach Emily Bailey, RD, CSSC, LD, NASM. Participants will also have the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge from those who currently volunteer at the institution and hear stories from volunteers about their experiences.
The event will provide information and education about wellness classes and coaching programs, and share the important role volunteers play in improving the lives of seniors. Participants will also gain an understanding of the potential impact individuals can have on organizations and their communities by volunteering their time and expertise.
This event will be primarily in-person, with a virtual participation option for those unable to attend physically. Attending this event does not obligate you to receive coaching, but will serve as an information session to explore potential volunteer opportunities.
Registration for the event is required. To register or have additional questions, please contact Karen Hagerman at khagerman@aaa5ohio.org or call 567-247-6487. Please let us know if you are interested in the virtual option.
