Uwill, a mental health platform for universities and students, has announced a partnership with a digital mental health company. Headspace plans to expand its Urise wellness services to include a direct-to-consumer platform.

The Boston-based company partners with universities to give students on-demand virtual access to licensed therapists and providers trained in crisis counseling, and students can also participate in online wellness events through its mental health and wellness app.

Founded in 2020, Uwill plans to integrate Headspace into its on-demand therapy service, Urise, which offers users meditation, yoga, mindfulness and other wellness-related services.

“At Uwill, access, engagement, satisfaction and outcomes are extremely important to us. We chose Headspace because it was one of the few apps with unique wellness programming and therapy-like uses,” said Michael London, founder and CEO of Uwill. MobiHealthNews By email.

“Headspace is committed to helping our customers stay connected through the digital transformation they’ve been through,” said Katie DiPerna, senior vice president of partnerships at Headspace. MobiHealthNews The partnership will enable the direct-to-consumer company to support students, faculty and staff dealing with mental health issues.

“By participating in mental health and wellness content, members on higher education campuses can take steps to improve their mental health and reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, depression and burnout. We are pleased to partner with Uwill, the leading mental health and wellness solution for universities and students,” DiPerna said.

Uwill claims to serve more than 2 million students at 300 universities in the U.S. and 40 countries.

Larger trends

Last year, Youwill It raised a $30 million Series A funding round and announced a deal with the state of New Jersey to provide college students with free 24/7 access to Uwill’s virtual mental health services.

In 2020, the company The $3.25 million investment was led by Run-DMC rapper Darryl McDaniels, and a year later it closed a $5.2 million angel investment round.

Earlier this year, Uwill announced the acquisition of Christie Campus Health, which provides counseling and mental health and wellness support to 750,000 students at more than 100 colleges and universities.

Oakland University in Michigan, Oberlin College of Music in Ohio and the State University of New York (SUNY) have also announced they will offer students free access to Uwill’s mental health platform.
