Jammu, June 10: A ‘Meditation and Wisdom Sharing’ session for senior citizens organised by the Jammu Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association (CGPWA) was held today.
The ceremony was presided over by I.D. Soni, head of the old age home and former state commissioner of Bharat Scout Guides.
In his presidential address, ID Soni lauded the CGPWA Jammu for organising this spiritual event which will be beneficial for all humanity.
Lauding Saikumar’s personal story of meeting his guru Patriji, Soni said essentially everyone, irrespective of which religion they belong to, is attached to their roots and performs their duty. There is no substitute for noble work and he cited historical and religious scriptures to support his views on humanitarianism and spiritualism.
Renowned naturopathic and yoga expert Shreyanshu Jain also spoke.
Jain praised the philosophy of meditation expounded by Reddy and spoke about the usefulness of yoga and a proper mixed diet with emphasis on fruits.
CGPWA Secretary General KB Jandial welcomed Saikumar and the guests and said that CGPWA continues to undertake various volunteer activities to contribute to the society.
Advocate of meditation and spiritualism AV Saikumar Reddy conducted a 30-minute meditation session for the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said it is not unusual for distracting thoughts to arise during meditation but they must be disconnected.
He said that humans have more than 70,000 to 90,000 thoughts in 24 hours, but when meditating, one must focus on breathing. The gentle rhythm of breathing gives energy and keeps you healthy. Now, he said, it has become a movement to create a spiritual society.
Earlier, Siakumar Reddy was felicitated by CGPWA Vice Presidents Dr Sudarshan Kumar and ID Soni.
