This summer, The Long Short Road will host The Healing Arts Haven, a one-day, in-person wellness event for mothers designed to meet their mental, emotional and physical needs. Read the full story
Dear Mom,
When was the last time you took care of yourself? When was the last time you stopped to breathe or take a break? When was the last time you made yourself a priority?
I get it: it’s hard to put yourself first when you have so much to do.
I know how hard moms work. Over the years, I’ve met moms at The Long Short Road workshops and connected with them through our hotline, and I’ve seen them give everything they’ve got for their families. Moms are pillars of our community. everytime Take a step forward for others.
I am in awe of you and your family and our community are blessed to have you.
But that goes back to my original question. youThis may sound cringey to some of you. Who has time to think about their own happiness when their families need us so much? Of course, we would be happier if we had more time, resources, and community, but most days, it feels unattainable.
That’s why I’m writing to mothers today: How can you continue to take care of your family if you don’t take care of yourself? As the center of the home, you set the tone for the happiness of everyone else. But it has to start with you—Your happiness is important not only because you matter, but because it impacts your environment, your home and your family.
You may be strong, but you’re not invincible. You need to be taken care of too.
That’s why this summer, The Long Short Road wants to give you the opportunity to get the nutrition you deserve. Heaven for healing artsis a day-long, in-person wellness event designed to meet your mental, emotional and physical needs. We’re bringing retreat-style programming to Crown Heights. Workshops include yoga and dance fusion with Chana Weiss, therapeutic arts with Dahlia Blum, LMSW, two nutritious meals, and opportunities to network with a community of other moms. Plus, we’ll have a fun raffle with prizes like a custom hat fall, a KitchenAid mixer, and a diamond ring. It’s your chance to refresh and rejuvenate your mind and body without leaving Crown Heights or paying for expensive lodging.
Healing Arts Haven will be held on Sunday, July 28th from 9am-5pm. Participation is $150 with exclusive sliding scale and full scholarships available on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited so please register early. Click here for details.
Moms, you are doing a great job. Be proud of yourselves and the beautiful Jewish homes you are building. We look forward to welcoming you and helping fill your hearts this summer.
with love,
