Breyers Brings Back Broadway Star to Promote Ice Cream as Anti-Aging Cure

Thirty years after Bernadette Peters starred in a series of cheeky commercials for Breyers, the Englewood Cliffs-based ice cream brand owned by Unilever USA is teaming up again with the award-winning actress and singer.

In the newly launched campaign, Peters will reprise her role as brand spokesperson, promoting Breyers CurbSmart Frozen Dairy Desserts as a healthier treat that tastes like traditional ice cream.

The 76-year-old promotes Breyers Curbsmart as an “anti-aging cream” and said the campaign’s message is “to remind everyone that living young isn’t just about what you see in the mirror, but what you can do to make you feel young.”

“That includes enjoying life’s little pleasures,” Peters said, adding, “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Breyers again for the first time in more than 30 years.”

“Breyers connects people at all stages of life, and there’s no one better than Bernadette Peters to remind people to enjoy life’s little moments and small pleasures, like eating Breyers Curbsmart with a loved one,” said Bentley King, general manager of Unilever’s U.S. ice cream division.

As part of the campaign, Breyers partnered with leading market research firm GWI to conduct a survey to find out how Americans over the age of 55 feel about aging and what makes them feel younger.

Key findings include:

• 89% We agreed that enjoying life’s small pleasures should be considered part of a comprehensive anti-aging routine.
• 82% I think it’s time for the conversation around anti-aging to include not just what makes you look younger, but what makes you feel younger too.
• 83% They said eating their favorite foods and snacks makes them feel younger than removing wrinkles.
• 88% I believe that healthy aging is not about how you look, but how you feel.

With 3-5 grams of net carbs and 60-150 calories per serving, Breyers CarbSmart is an ice cream alternative for carb-conscious consumers and is available by the bar or scoop in the frozen food section of retailers nationwide with prices starting at $4.67.

Through the 4th of July, the brand is offering coupons online for free Breyers CarbSmart products.
