MANOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) — An Armstrong County resort that suddenly closed in February is set to become a wellness center.
Lenape Heights Golf Resort will become the Lenape Wellness Center in Manor Township later this summer.
Since it closed in February, some weddings have had to find new venues and work has been done to prepare for chronic psychological needs.
“They can lead healthy, fulfilling lives, feel good and be happy – all of which are natural human qualities,” chief clinical officer Amy Rose said.
He said the hotel will have rooms for the facility’s capacity of 40 to 45 patients, but when the center first opens it plans to accommodate around 20 to 25 patients.
“We want this to feel like a second home, so we want to give them all of that,” Rose said.
This week, the center interviewed 40 to 50 staff members.
“There’s a lot of talented staff in the area, and we want to recruit staff from the area,” Rose told KDKA.
The location of the center allows patients to receive a variety of treatments and have access to the outside world, including hiking trails and golf courses that are accessible to patients during their treatment.
Rose wants to involve the community in golf lessons, as she feels that by getting the community involved, it will help to remove the stigma around mental health.
“Once we can get them to understand what we’re doing and they can see it in action, I think there will be less fear and less concern,” Rose said.
Interested parties are not yet able to register, but the management hopes to open it up soon.
The goal is to have everything ready in the next few weeks, hopefully by the end of this month.
