Natural ways to grow hair

Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine, is rich in natural remedies to promote hair growth and maintain healthy hair. Many herbs used in Ayurvedic treatments have been found to nourish the scalp, strengthen hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. Here are some Ayurvedic herbs known to be effective for hair growth and secret ways to use them effectively for optimal results.

Bhringaraj

Also known as the “king of herbs” for hair growth, Bhringaraj is a powerful Ayurvedic herb that has been used for centuries to promote healthy hair. It is rich in nutrients like iron, magnesium and vitamin E, which nourish the scalp and strengthen hair follicles.

Before going to bed, soak some bhringaraj leaves in coconut or sesame oil and massage into your scalp. Leave it overnight for deep nourishment and wash it off in the morning. You can also make a hair mask by mixing bhringaraj powder with yogurt and a few drops of lemon juice. Apply the mask on your scalp and hair and leave it for 30 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.

Amla

Amla is a powerful source of Vitamin C and antioxidants making it an excellent herb for promoting hair growth and preventing premature greying. It strengthens hair follicles, reduces hair fall and adds shine to hair.

Boil dried pieces of amla in coconut oil until they turn black. Strain the oil and apply it on your scalp and hair. Leave it on for a few hours or overnight and then wash it off. Drinking amla juice regularly will help promote hair growth from within. You can also mix amla juice with water or any other fruit juice to make a refreshing drink.

Nimes

Neem is known for its antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an excellent herb for maintaining scalp health – it helps prevent dandruff, relieves scalp inflammation and promotes healthy hair growth.

Boil neem leaves in water and allow the solution to cool. Use it as a final rinse after shampooing to soothe the scalp and encourage hair growth. Grind neem leaves with water to make a paste and apply it to your scalp. Leave it for about 30 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Methi

Methi seeds are rich in protein and nicotinic acid, which are known to strengthen hair follicles, prevent hair loss and promote hair growth. They also moisturize the scalp and reduce dandruff.

Soak methi seeds in water overnight and grind them into a paste the next morning. Mix the paste with yogurt and apply it on your scalp and hair. Leave it for 30 minutes and then wash it off. Soak methi seeds in coconut oil and heat it until it turns brown. Strain the oil and massage it regularly into your scalp to promote hair growth.

hibiscus

Hibiscus flower is rich in vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants, making it an excellent herb for promoting hair growth and preventing hair loss. It nourishes the scalp, stimulates hair follicles and adds shine to hair.

Grind hibiscus flowers and leaves into a paste and mix with coconut oil or yogurt. Apply the mask to your scalp and hair and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water. Boil hibiscus flowers and leaves in water, strain the solution and use as a final rinse after shampooing. It promotes hair growth and prevents dandruff.

Aloe Vera

Known for its moisturizing, soothing and healing properties, Aloe Vera is an excellent herb for promoting scalp health and hair growth. It nourishes the scalp, reduces dandruff and strengthens hair follicles.

Extract fresh aloe vera gel from the plant and apply it directly to your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Mix aloe vera gel with coconut milk and a few drops of essential oils. Apply the mask to your scalp and hair and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

Brahmi

Known for its soothing and rejuvenating properties, Brahmi is an excellent herb for promoting hair growth and reducing hair loss due to stress. It strengthens hair follicles, improves blood circulation to the scalp and nourishes hair from root to tip.

Steep brahmi leaves in coconut or sesame oil and heat it until it darkens in colour. Strain the oil and massage it regularly into your scalp to promote hair growth and reduce hair fall. Mix brahmi powder, amla powder and water to make a paste. Apply the paste on your scalp and hair and leave it for 30 minutes, then wash it off with lukewarm water.
