Three mental health centres in the Quebec area have been selected to participate in a federal program to expand and improve access to coordinated mental health care and substance use treatment.
“This is an investment in the health and wellness of our community,” said Illinois Sen. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island. “Being selected for this program ensures that residents in crisis have access to mental and behavioral health services regardless of their ability to pay.”
The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Demonstration Program will reimburse the full cost of services provided by CCBHCs through Medicaid at a higher amount than Medicaid clients have received historically. The program is expected to bring an additional $150 million to Illinois’ behavioral health system.
The Robert Young Centers in Moline and Rock Island and Bridgeway Inc. in Galesburg have received funding from the program.
CCBHCs provide access to services and care coordination through evidence-based practices and other supports. Services are based on an assessment of the needs of the community, including crisis response services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CCBHCs are required to provide routine outpatient care to patients within 10 business days.
