UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State is offering additional free seminars and access to an online mental health “fitness studio” as part of an ongoing effort to promote mental health among its employees.
“Mental health is so important to our overall well-being and impacts our lives in ways big and small. As Penn State, we want to provide our valued employees with the tools and opportunities to maintain and improve their mental health,” said Jennifer Wilkes, vice president for human resources and chief human resources officer.
Following the success of the Mental Health Month webinar in May, Penn State Human Resources and SupportLinc, the university’s employee advocacy partner, will host additional seminars focusing on a variety of topics throughout the year through their Learning Resources Network.
In addition to the Mental Health Webinar Series, SupportLinc is offering a new feature called Mindstream, a mental fitness studio that strengthens mental health and cultivates life skills. Just like daily workouts that benefit physical health, training your mind is essential for overall wellness. The platform offers a wide range of sessions to prepare you for any challenge you may face in life. Mindstream is free for full-time employees who are eligible for benefits through SupportLinc. Sessions range from 3 to 20 minutes that can be incorporated into your daily life, focusing on mental health, personal development, work-life balance, and leadership skills. Mindstream covers a variety of topics to strengthen mental health, including relationships, career development, diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, sleep, mindfulness, parenting, and grief and loss, with new sessions being added regularly. Employees can add live sessions to their calendars, view replays of live sessions at their convenience, and schedule mindfulness and meditation breaks with quick access to instantly add daily calendar reminders.
Mindstream and SupportLinc, new fitness apps for the mind, provide information and support free of charge to Penn State full-time benefits-eligible employees, postdoctoral students, their spouses and dependents, and their families. Access Mindstream and SupportLinc whenever you need them, wherever it’s convenient for you. Visit www.supportlinc.com using the group code “pennstate” or download the mobile app.
