New Hotspots for Improving Your Mind and Body
Grounding Spot welcomes people into what it calls the “world’s first mental health fitness club.” This new mental health concept aims to provide a safe space where people can prioritise their mental and physical wellbeing.
“Whether it’s work or life stress, worry, anxiety or depression, the majority of Americans struggle with it every day. Our vision is simple: to make mental wellness mainstream,” says Ground Spot Founder Frances Beauchelle. “If you want to feel mentally better and strengthen your mental health every day, where do you go? Ground Spot is the place to do just that. This is a place where you can thrive.”
It opened a few weeks ago at Coconut Point Mall in Estero.
According to Mental Health America (MHA), nearly one in five American adults has a diagnosable mental illness in any given year, 46% of Americans will meet the criteria for a disorder in their lifetime, and half will develop a disorder by age 14.
“Florida is ranked 49th in mental health awareness. We are lagging in resources. Our system is broken but I know how to fix it. After battling anxiety for years and trying techniques such as halotherapy, I learned how it works and has helped me,” Boshell said.

Grounding Spot partners with companies and organizations to incorporate mental health benefits plans for their employees. According to the World Health Organization, companies lose $300 billion in productivity annually due to mental health issues, and 83% of U.S. workers suffer from work-related stress.
“Organizational wellness is also something we offer because it helps improve company culture, bring some peace and quiet to the workplace, improve employee morale, and increase productivity,” says Nancy Gerard of Our Yoga Place.
“We work in partnership with the YMCA, the Realtors Association, the Lee and Collier sheriff’s offices. We talk to veterans about the effects of PTSD and we work together on mediation,” Boshell said.

Meditation is part of the club’s total body fitness care approach.
As part of Grounding Spot’s philosophy of relaxation and rejuvenation, this mental fitness club focuses on all aspects of good mental health, including relaxation, positive thinking, connection and balanced nutrition. What makes this club unique is that all services are available in one place.
The fitness club offers IV vitamin therapy, halotherapy, yoga, meditation, life coaching and mindset classes. These services cater to all ages, including beginner-level yoga and meditation courses and supportive therapies.
The Grounding Spot also offers red light therapy and cold baths. Borschel said the Grounding Spot also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which has been shown to help with PTSD and depression, as well as improve focus and mood.
“The physical benefits are amazing,” Borschel says.
“It’s a place for people of all ages, including children. Anyone from zero to 100 is welcome. People don’t talk openly about mental health among young people or in the workplace. We want people to feel proud of who they are and feel part of the community.”

Grounding Spot has merged with Our Yoga Place, known for its hot yoga classes, breathing techniques and promoting an overall sense of well-being.
“We are excited to expand yoga to a broader range of mind and body at Ground Spot,” said Tom Palmer of Our Yoga Place. “Our state-of-the-art facility will provide a tranquil and calming environment for people to enhance their mental wellbeing with cutting edge technology, yoga, meditation and many other services to enhance mindset.”
“It gives people a place of self-care and awareness in one place. When you go to the gym, you don’t just have one machine that works different parts of your body. This is the same thing we do for the mind. This is a place to help individuals make the most of their time and tap into different aspects of themselves. With our membership, we customize it to your needs. We look at your current concerns and support you with a minimum 12-week system plan to make your journey more effective,” says Boshell. “A customized mental plan can enhance joy, help you accept someone’s loss, and help with relationships.”

Ground Spot’s founders said they aim to create a club where individuals can meet others privately or in groups, designed to find creative expression and inner happiness.
“We live in a pleasure-driven world, and we want instant gratification, but that can lead to long-term pain. We’re working to change that and create skills that people can take home and use in their daily lives,” said Brett Borshell, co-founder and COO of Grounding Spot.
Mental Fitness Club features a grab-and-go café with a selection of healthy and tasty snacks including seeds, berries and other superfoods.
“Blueberries actually treat depression and can help with ADHD and mental health,” Borschel says.
“It’s a journey from the inside to the outside,” said Alonsa Yaber, a partner at Ground Spot.
Memberships range from virtual classes to unlimited access to programs and equipment. Plans can be found online at groundingspot.com. Prices range from $29 to $245 per month.
The Grounding Spot hopes that the mental health model will be so successful that it can franchise the idea and expand to other cities.
