A well-rested Kyren Wilson expressed gratitude to his hypnotherapist after beating an out-of-form David Gilbert 17-11 to reach his second Crucible final.
Wilson, 32, lost 18-8 to Ronnie O’Sullivan in the 2020 final, but his preparation that year was far from ideal.
He barely slept after his late-night semi-final win over Anthony McGill and was woken at 6am by a fire alarm.
But that hasn’t been an issue this year.
“There were a lot of people who helped me mentally, including a hypnotherapist called Chris O’Connor,” he said.

Kyren Wilson celebrates defeating David Gilbert to reach his second World Championship final
“We started right before the World Championships and he really helped me with my sleep.”
“Basically, he’s knocking me out. I slept eight and a half hours last night and then when I get home and have to face my kids, God help me!”
Wilson led 14-10 in the previous night’s match and took advantage of a number of Gilbert’s errors to close out the three frames he needed to win.
He potted the deciding blue and then launched a punch into the air at his family.
Wilson, ranked 12th in the world, will face either Jack Jones or 2015 winner Stuart Bingham in the final, which starts this afternoon and runs through tomorrow.
