With so many anti-aging products available to buy, choosing the right one for your skin can seem overwhelming.
Many of us have counters full of skin care products, but not all of them are necessary and some can do more harm than good.
June 1st is National Skin Care Awareness Day, and nurses and medical spa owners LB Rejuven8 Aesthetics and Health Yarikuza Lopez explained the simple steps we can take to slow down the aging process.
“Skin care is great for helping with collagen and elastin production, protecting the skin from the sun and its harmful rays, and keeping it hydrated,” Lopez said.
Lopez encourages people of all skin types to follow her core four-step method.
An ideal daytime skincare routine includes a gentle daily cleanser, a skin enhancer like a hyaluronic acid serum or eye cream, a moisturizer, and sunscreen.
She recommends switching to a retinol sunscreen at night.
“Retinol is designed for nighttime use because it can increase sensitivity to sunburn,” Lopez explained.
She also said it’s important to avoid using vitamin C and retinol together.
Lopez said she prefers using medical-grade skin care products.
Her favorite brand is Alastin, which you can find here.
