That was in January In 2023, I first noticed my health deteriorating. I was a relatively healthy, young(ish) man. I meditated daily, did breathwork, yoga, and strength training, and ate organic, biodynamic, grass-fed foods whenever possible. However, my sleep had dropped dramatically, and in fact, I was only getting 3-4 hours of sleep per night. I was waking up with a stuffy nose, feeling hot, uncomfortable, and angry. Naturally, as a co-founder of a startup, my stress levels were rising while working full time, teaching classes, and striving to model the image of health to the outside world.
Internally, I was rapidly deteriorating. My mental health was at its worst, my relationships were suffering, and I felt powerless. I tried every test I could find out what was going on – blood, urine, saliva. I changed my diet, took supplements, went to saunas, took cold water immersions, tried prescription medications – all to no avail.
After 10 months of this, I was on the verge of a mental breakdown. That’s when a friend suggested I try MOCEAN, a new age health clinic in New York City. They work with the body as a holistic system and are known for helping people with chronic health issues that can’t be treated traditionally. So I took a month off work and told my partners that I wasn’t sure what to expect but that I needed to take a month off to heal myself.
I emailed Dr. Joshua Park, founder of MOCEAN. Josh is a former team doctor for the Korean Olympic team, and he was plagued by chronic health issues that weren’t easily diagnosed or treated. My month-long healing included five weekly sessions at the clinic, addressing breathing, inflammation, scar tissue repair, stress, sleep, and optimizing gut health.
Each session included a variety of treatments using a variety of techniques, from compression leg sleeves to brain optimization, breathing protocols, and machines that filter pure oxygen into the body. Plus, there was a hyperbaric chamber, sauna, and more. It was a biohacker’s dream.

Intrigued, I asked Dr. Park why he had acquired such a weird and wonderful device. “When I was developing the MOCEAN Therapeutic System, I studied a lot,” he told me. “Both historical and contemporary medical information helped me identify the major physiological systems essential to optimal health: the circulatory system, the nervous system, the musculoskeletal system, and the systems responsible for energy balance.”
In Dr. Park’s own words, “By better understanding these fundamentals, we realized that while the principles governing human health remain unchanged, our technological capabilities to enhance or restore these systems have advanced significantly.”
“I began actively seeking out new technologies to improve in these key areas,” he continued.
MOCEAN is known for targeted PEMF therapy, which uses pulsed electromagnetic fields to activate low energy cells with pure raw energy. Each cell in our body acts like a capacitor or battery that holds an electrical charge. Our entire body relies on electrical energy and each cell requires a specific charge to function optimally. To stay healthy, cells need to function effectively.
After four weeks of various technology-based treatments and therapies, I felt reborn. My mind and body were refreshed. Was it purely because of the technology? Or was it because I was off work? Or was it because it was September in New York? Who knows? Maybe it was a combination of all of the above. I do know this: when I got home, all of my inflammatory markers were down. This was especially important because I discovered I had mold in my apartment, which is what had made me sick in the first place.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t return to New York right away, so I moved out of that apartment, took some of the lessons I learned, and purchased some of the technology I used at MOCEAN. I reached out to Dr. Park and asked him what the most affordable devices I could afford were. Here are the three devices that have truly changed my life since returning home:

Compression Sleeve
According to Dr. Park, compression leg sleeves are designed to apply constant pressure to the legs, which helps improve blood circulation. This is especially beneficial for people who sit or stand for long periods of time. Increased circulation improves blood flow, which delivers oxygen to tissues more efficiently and improves the overall health of the lymphatic system. I use them 3-5 times a week. I put on an ambient playlist or binaural beats album and take a nap for 30-45 minutes. I love my Hyperice compression sleeves.

Heated Eye Mask
“Eye massage masks are a great tool to relieve eye fatigue and strain that’s common in today’s digital-centric lifestyle,” says Dr. Park. “These masks typically use gentle vibrations or heat to stimulate the eye area, reducing swelling, relieving sinus pressure, and promoting relaxation.” The best part is, these masks aren’t too expensive and are available on Amazon.

Biomat
I was looking for a well-researched and recommended PEMF mat, but unfortunately, most of the reputable mats were between $6,500 and $15,000. However, many people recommended Biomat. Biomat utilizes four types of energy: far infrared with wavelengths of 6.5-9.32-14 microns, natural amethyst crystals, natural tourmaline, and orgone energy with negative ion capabilities. When the body is exposed to these energies, changes in body temperature occur, affecting mitochondrial production and stress response. I use Biomat along with a compression sleeve and heated eye mask. This combination is like a dream after a long day of work. I highly recommend giving it a try.
Ultimately, do I think these technologies can replace exercise, mental health care, healthy eating, and socializing? No. Do I think they can support us during stressful times and optimize our already healthy bodies? Absolutely. But don’t take my word for it; try them for yourself and let me know what you think.
