The Intermountain Health Way to Wellness program is a one-time, “bite-sized” class for anyone wanting to learn about healthy eating habits.
“We talk a lot about weight loss, chronic disease, healthy eating, mental health, and improving mood, all of which are impacted by food choices,” says Carly Alba, R.D., registered dietitian at Intermountain Health. “Food is a big part of our culture and lifestyle, and making small tweaks to our diet can impact our overall health. Often, people just need a little help getting started, which is where our ‘Bites’ classes come in.”
Intermountain Health’s Way to Wellness program (formerly Weigh to Health) is a one-year, CDC-approved diabetes prevention program led by a registered dietitian that focuses on evidence-based methods of increasing physical activity and improving nutrition to address health issues such as prediabetes, diabetes, heart disease and other weight-related chronic diseases.
For those interested in experiencing Way to Wellness for themselves, a Way to Wellness “Bites” class is scheduled for April 25th from 6-7:30pm at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, and Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah. The class will focus on “healthy eating principles” and cost $35.
The one-year Way to Wellness program, which comes with ample support, resources and education, is often covered by private insurance plans.
