NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the third and final day of his meditation retreat at Kanniyakumari by performing the ‘Surya Argya’ ritual at sunrise at the Vivekananda Rock-cut Memorial, officials said.
“Surya Argya” is a spiritual practice of offering salutations to God in the form of the sun. The Prime Minister poured a small amount of water from a traditional vessel into the sea as an offering and prayed using a prayer bead called a “japa mala”.
Dressed in a saffron outfit, PM Modi offered flowers at the statue of Swami Vivekananda and then walked around the mandapam, carrying prayer beads in his hands.
