EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The City of El Paso Animal Services, in partnership with El Paso County Animal Welfare and Petco Labs, will host their second annual Drive-Thru Pet Wellness Clinic on Sunday, June 2nd.
The drive-thru clinic will be held June 2 from 8 to 10 a.m. at 1300 Joe Battle Boulevard, according to a news release issued by the city.
The city says the free vaccine and microchip clinic is aimed at enhancing pet health and safety as warmer weather approaches, when rising temperatures increase the spread of diseases.
“This service is critical to promoting the overall well-being of pets and increasing the likelihood that lost pets will be returned home safely, especially as we approach the Fourth of July Independence Day, a peak time for missing pets,” the news release said.
The clinic is operating on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to the first 500 pets.
Participants are reminded to keep their pets in their cars during drive-thru appointments, with dogs to be kept on a leash and cats in appropriate carriers, according to the city.
The city says the clinic will microchip all pets and provide parvovirus/distemper vaccines for dogs and feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia (FVRCP) vaccines for cats.
Additionally, the city says pets over six weeks old will be eligible for the vaccine, and vaccinations will no longer be available for other pets.
