Tiruvannamalai: Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K Annamalai has slammed the Opposition for “politicising” Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 45-hour meditation in Kanniyakumari.
PM Modi’s meditation at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, which began on Thursday, is scheduled to conclude on Saturday evening.
Criticising the opposition parties, Annamalai said they are playing politics over PM Modi’s meditation without having any idea what to do.
“The Chief Minister came to Kanyakumari for a personal function but not a single BJP volunteer came. They don’t know where to play politics. The district commissioner of Kanyakumari said that Vivekananda Lok belongs to Vivekananda Kendra and is a private property available to the general public and no permission from the government or the Election Commission is required,” he said.
“On one hand, the Prime Minister of India is meditating, on the other hand, people are visiting Vivekananda Rock and no one was stopped there. The opposition parties are playing politics without knowing what to do,” Annamalai added.
The Tamil Nadu BJP leader further said that regarding the Indian Union meeting being held today, no key leaders from any political party are participating.
“Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin did not attend the Indian Union meeting in Delhi. No key leaders from any political party attended, only secondary leaders. Bloc India and Indian National Congress conceded defeat saying that Congress representatives would not take part in the exit polls. Chief Minister Stalin was aware of this drama till the elections were over. Even they know that Narendra Modi will be our country’s third prime minister,” Annamalai said.
PM Modi’s spiritual journey
PM Modi began meditating at the Dhyana Mandapam, the place where revered Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision of ‘Bharat Mata’.
The Prime Minister arrived at Vivekananda Rock Memorial on Thursday.
According to mythology, Goddess Parvati also meditated on one leg at the same spot while waiting for Lord Shiva.
The Prime Minister is known to undertake a spiritual journey at the end of his election campaign. In line with this, he will reach Kanyakumari on May 30 and will stay there till June 1. The Prime Minister had visited Kedarnath in 2019 and Shivaji’s Pratapagarh in 2014.
