2024 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition ProgramFarmers Market Day, a seasonal USDA subsidy program aimed at supplementing the diets of low-income seniors with fresh produce, will begin operations at four Upstate farmers markets on June 1.
On select days in June, local nonprofit Senior Action will be handing out approximately 350 vouchers at the following distribution locations:
- June 1st, 8:30am-12pm Travelers Rest City Hall125 Trailblazer Drive
- June 4th, 4:30pm-7:30pm — Greer Farmers Market in Greer City Park, 301 E. Poinsett St.
- June 8th, 8am-12pm TD Saturday Market McBee Avenue, the main street in downtown Greenville
- June 22nd, 8am-12pm Fountain Inn Farmers Market110 Depot St.
Eligible participants will receive $50 in the form of five $10 checks to be used at participating authorized locations.
To be eligible to participate, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South Carolina resident aged 60 or older
- Annual income of an individual must not exceed $25,142, or $33,874 for two people
- Report household size, jointly or separately
- Present legal identification
Eligible seniors must visit a designated location in their county of residence, fill out an application and provide photo identification to participate. If approved, eligible seniors will receive a check the same day. Applications will be accepted and checks will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis in the senior’s county of residence.
