The event is free and open to the public and will feature solution-based discussions about teen mental health issues.

BOISE, Idaho — KTVB and Boise State Public Radio will host a panel discussion, “Navigating Teen Mental Health,” featuring solutions-based discussion and a focus on the high rates of anxiety and depression among Idaho teens. Topics will include smartphones, social media and building connections.

“At KTVB, we believe in power in conversation and sharing ideas,” said KTVB President and General Manager Jessica Hagan. “We hope this is a positive step in empowering young people, their families and those who will shape their future.”

The event is free and open to the public and will take place on Thursday, June 6th from 6pm to 8pm in the Boise Center’s East Building, 4th floor at The Grove. Refreshments will be provided and doors will open at 5:15pm. The event will include presentations as well as discussions and time for audience questions.

“Our newsroom has been focusing on mental health lately,” said Tom Michael, general manager of Boise State Public Radio. “We want to engage with our community about the issues teens are facing and how to solve them.”

The event will be moderated by Brian Holmes of KTVB and Troy Oppy of Boise State Public Radio News, and panelists will include Megan Smith of Boise State University and Communities for Youth, Maya Ledgerwood of Northwest Nazarene University and Rural Social Service Solutions, and Vashti Somerville of Family Healing Pathways.

More information and registration is available at BoiseStatePublicRadio.org.

About Boise State Public Radio

Boise State Public Radio has been Idaho’s nonprofit, independent public media provider for more than 45 years, offering independent news and music services as well as major national programming from NPR and other public radio distributors. Licensed by Boise State University, the radio network serves two-thirds of Idaho’s population through 23 transmitters and translators and digital platforms.

KTVB News Group is Idaho’s largest media organization, reaching more Idahoans with news, entertainment and local content every day. Founded in 1953 as a single television station, the group has expanded over the years to now include three independent television stations, the state’s most visited website, a top-ranked mobile app and an ever-expanding social media network.
