Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated a 45-hour meditation session at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari.
The Prime Minister arrived in Kanniyakumari from near Thiruvananthapuram early in the morning and offered prayers at the Bhagavathi Amman Temple. The Prime Minister will meditate at the Vivekananda Rock-cut Memorial for about two days from the evening of May 30 to the evening of June 1.
He meditates day and night at the Dhyan Mandapam, the same place where Swami Vivekananda meditated.
Before leaving on June 1, Modi is expected to visit the Thiruvalluvar statue next to the memorial. Both the memorial and the statue are built on small islands, or free-standing rock formations, in the sea.
All preparations, including tight security, are in place for PM Modi’s 45-hour stay at the famous underwater monument named after a Hindu saint.
BJP leaders said PM Modi will meditate at the Rock Memorial, a monument built in honour of Swami Vivekananda, after the climax of the Lok Sabha election campaign later today. The prime minister had held a similar meditation at Kedarnath caves after the 2019 election campaign.
PM Modi will meditate from Thursday evening till June 1 evening at Dhyan Mandapam, the spot where Vivekananda, a spiritual icon revered by PM Modi, is believed to have had a divine vision of “Bharat Mata”.
Security has been stepped up ahead of Modi’s visit, with 2,000 police officers on duty during his stay, while the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy will also maintain a tight vigil.
After the 2019 election campaign ended, PM Modi made a two-day visit to Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand and held a 15-hour “Ekanthavas(Meditation alone).
